BEIJING—On Feb. 22, 2011 in Shenzhen, the Personal Care & Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) event will open its doors to the first industry gathering for the Year of the Rabbit, and will like previous editions, will be ready to jump start innovation and knowledge exchanges for the year ahead. PCHi 2011 has attracted more people than ever, and is set to be the biggest edition to-date with 237 exhibiting companies already registered for the event.

Daniel Chan, PCHi project director, said, “With just a few weeks leading up to the 2011 edition of PCHi, we are excited to be presenting a number of new programs and marketing elements that will help to make our upcoming event one that is truly not-to-be-missed by any industry professional."

In keeping with industry needs, two new topics, “The Macho Side of Personal Care" and “Earth-friendly Formulations" will be part of the 2011 Technology conference track. “The Macho Side of Personal Care" will discuss the key differences in formulations and technologies behind the manufacturing of men’s cosmetics, while “Earth-friendly Formulations" will explore manufacturing techniques, formulae and technologies, and packaging materials for companies to develop truly green products.

Mintel Intelligence Lounge

The Mintel Intelligence Lounge will be presented for the first time at PCHi. Six of the world’s most innovative products, specially chosen by the company’s head researcher for the Asia-Pacific region, will be available for delegates to try out at the booth.

Jo Pye, Mintel’s regional insights director – APAC, said, “The Mintel Intelligence Lounge, a new feature at PCHi 2011, aims to provide an effective platform for participants to acquaint themselves with the most up-to-date market movements, with special focus on product innovation. It not only allows the audience to try on the products and have access to its full ingredients list, price and launch venue, but also aims to spark inspiration to their own new product development process. The Intelligence Lounge will also act as the ideal networking space for industry associates to mingle with Mintel analysts so as to discuss what’s hot and what’s next in the market."

Casa Elegancia

Also new at PCHi will be Casa Elegancia, or “House of Elegance," an exclusive hospitality zone for leading manufacturers of cosmetics, personal care and homecare products in China. The lounge will allow these important players to effectively capitalize on the PCHi platform to source for their formulation needs and to meet existing and new suppliers from China and worldwide. Participants at Casa Elegancia include international companies such as Johnson & Johnson, L’Oreal and Unilever, and domestic giants such as Jala Group and Guangdong Liby.

The China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards

Co-organized by Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) and Ringier Trade Media Ltd., the China Personal Care & Cosmetics Innovation Awards will recognize products launched from 2007 to 2010 that have helped elevate China’s personal care and home care industry. Products in the following categories will be honored: Most Innovative Ingredients, Most Innovative Formulating & Processing Technology, Testing & OEM/ODM services and Packaging & Equipment. Participation is not limited to exhibitors but is open to all companies in the industry. The award ceremony will be held on the first evening of PCHi 2011, during the Industry Night cocktail party event.

Apple App

As an added benefit to iPhone or iPod Touch users attending PCH 2011, a brand new PCHi iTunes application will be launched by the end of January 2011, and can be downloaded for free. The application will serve as a visitor guide, providing attendees with information about floor plan, exhibitors’ information, onsite activities, and with details such as the full conference program. The application offers greater convenience to iTunes users attending PCHi, and provides an opportunity for the organizers to print fewer copies of the directories as an added green measure. PCHi makes waves by being the first in the industry to provide this value-added service to the rapidly-increasing iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad user group.
