Tapping into Hot Colors

I'm someone who loves color. My favorites tend to be more in the subtle ranges, so I was so excited to see subdued tones trending for the next couple of years versus the past years' bright pops of color. Now, that's not to say that the new color direction doesn't pop, it's just more of a classy, confident pop of color. They're softer and a little warmer.
Take, for example, 2011's color of the year, honeysuckle, named by Pantone.com. It's a vibrant, courageous pink. Yes, pink! Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, describes this hue perfectly: "Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going" and "Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum."
What else is hot through 2012? "Silver Cloud" pantone 15-4502, a warm grey tone; "Russet" pantone 18-1235, a warm reddish brown; "Silver Peony" pantone 12-1206, a light blush of pink; as well as warm tones of purple, grey blues, warm gold, soft aqua blue and variations of earth tones. This is great news for the world of beauty in deciding cosmetic colors and packaging. Just think of the gorgeous combinations. I'm excited to see what's to come with this fascinating new palette of colors!
