NEW YORK—The American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Personal Care Products Council Foundation (PCPCF) raised more than $2 million at the 27th annual DreamBall to benefit Look Good…Feel Better®, a program dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life of people undergoing treatment for cancer. This year’s gala took place on Sept.22 at Cipriani, 42nd St., New York, and honored Linda Wells, founding editor in chief of Allure, Jonathan Zrihen, Clarins Groupe North America president and CEO, and Olympian Shannon Miller.

TV Personality and celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis hosted the event and television host Kelly Ripa and CEO of Bloomingdales Michael Gould were guest presenters. The DreamBall was attended by 550 guests and raised $172,000 through a first-ever balloon auction.

Linda Wells was honored for her leadership as an advocate and champion for women’s health issues. DreamBall honoree Zrihen has been an enthusiastic advocate and supporter of the Look Good…Feel Better Program, helping expand its focus and reach to serve more than a million cancer patients worldwide. Miller, Olympic gymnast and the 2011 “DreamGirl," was celebrated for her triumphant and inspirational fight against ovarian cancer. Diagnosed in January 2011, Miller has recorded her treatment and subsequent recovery with an emphasis on staying active through her weekly radio show and website.

For the first time ever, the DreamBall was followed by “DreamBall After Dark," an inaugural reception created by Clarins. The mission of “DreamBall After Dark" is to engage the next generation of philanthropic leaders to get them involved in the Look Good…Feel Better Program. “The Young Friends of the DreamBall was born from my simple of idea of involving and engaging young professional and leaders in the existing DreamBall organization," said Erin Cohen, DreamBall After Dark co-chair and sr. public relations manager at Clarins. “For years, the DreamBall has been a wonderful benefit raising money for Look Good...Feel Better; however, the costs associated with participating in the beautiful black-tie gala have been restrictive to up-and-coming leaders. We now have a dynamic and wonderful Young Friends committee with the support of Clarins, Conde Nast and LVMH, that will bring the DreamBall to a new level of awareness in the beauty industry and beyond."

D.J., and model Harley Viera-Newton spun lively music for the 200 young guests who attended the reception, which raised $32,000 for Look Good…Feel Better.
