Lip Gloss: Good Enough to Eat?

While I’m not saying my mid-afternoon snack is a tube of lip-gloss, the truth is if you wear it, you are eating it. In fact, the average woman consumes 7 pounds of lip-gloss in a decade. So, I say laughingly, if we’re eating it why not enjoy it?

We did a little research and found there are actually many delectable choices. Our current favorite is CO Bigelow’s Ultra Mentha Lip Shine. This minty-fresh gloss does double duty by providing a sheer, glossy shine with peppermint oil to freshen your breath. The line boasts a huge variety of flavors and tints.

Who knew the water line Aquafina made lip-gloss? We stumbled upon a Raspberry Lip Oil by Aquafina at Walgreens and fell in love. So juicy yet not sticky, while smooth, shiny and so tasty!

We’re dying to try the UK’s Kissable Lickable Lips from Miss Groovy. Actually referred to as an edible gloss, it’s described as a delectable lip-gloss that is infused with nutritious ingredients, pure essential oils and exotic butters. Sounds delicious!

We’ve loved Tokyo Milk for their out of this world perfumes, but they also have some incredible lip glosses. Our current fave, Let Them Eat Cake Bon Bon Lip Balm. Yep, it’s as good as it sounds. Like cake? Try Philosophy’s Vanilla Birthday Cake Lip Shine. It’s super shiny, ultra indulgent and sparkly with its flattering champagne-colored shimmer.

And we couldn’t go without mentioning the new Huge Lips Skinny Hips gloss by Purple Lab. This scrumptious gloss contains hoodia, an extract that might help to curb the appetite. While we’re not sure about that, we are sure this is one hot gloss. It comes in six flavors like Goji Berry Smoothie and Lychee Martini plus it contains a lip plumper to promote fuller lips.

In all lip-glosses we like to look for wholesome ingredients like shea butter and natural oils including avocado and sunflower. While the verdict is still out, we try to steer clear of petro chemicals when possible. Do your research, choose what you like and enjoy a tasty treat right on your lips!
