Chocolate for Sunburn? Maybe …

QUEBEC CITY—The link between diet and skin has already been made—from acne to dermatitis; but contrary to what most may think, chocolate may do right by skin. Yahoo!® News reported Canadian scientists are embarking on a study to see if dark chocolate not only quenches sugar cravings, but offers sunburn protection.

Previous studies have shown chocolate’s polyphenols helps increase blood flow occurring close to the skin, possibly offering protection from UV damage; but due to their size, they’re inconclusive. Now, researchers at Laval University are administering three small squares a day or placebo for 12 weeks to fair-skinned subjects, 25 to 65 years old, and exposing them to UV light, followed by a skin check up.
