CARPINTERIA, Calif.—NuSil Technology LLC, the global provider of silicone materials for the personal care, health care and pharmaceutical industries, introduced two baseline silicones—PCM-7904, a phenyl-modified dimethicone; and PCM-7932, a clear silicone tacky gel used for delivery systems.

PCM-7904 is available in varying viscosities for ease of incorporation into a wide range of formulations. For enhanced shine, PCM-7904 has a refractive index of 1.429, while similar NuSil phenyl dimethicones have refractive indices of up to 1.57. PCM-7904 can be used in applications where UV and chemical resistance are desired. Additional applications may include hair care formulations to add silkiness, shine, lubricity and detangling, as well as skin care products to add softness.

PCM-7932 is a silicone tacky gel used as medium for transdermal delivery of APIs or a multitude of other components. The surface tack of PCM-7932 can be altered to improve adherence to many skin types, and its low viscosity provides easy mixing. In addition, PCM-7932 can be loaded with supplements or additives such as alpha or beta hydroxy acids for wrinkle-reduction applications. With an adjustable cure profile, PCM-7932 provides variations for applications that require incorporation of sensitive drugs (i.e., heat-sensitive drugs).
