Aloe Vera Fights Cavities, Gum Pain

SAN DIEGO, Calif.—US Farms Inc., a diversified farming, nursery and wellness company announced the results of a recent study showed Aloe vera gel as tooth gel, can soothe gum pain and fight cavities. The findings, published in the May/June 2009 issue of General Dentistry, showed Aloe Vera tooth gel was as effective, and even outperformed some other commercial toothpaste when it came to controlling mouth bacteria.

The gel extracted from the Aloe plant can soothe burns, help heal cuts and nourish the skin. Recently, it has been added to tooth gels, but whether Aloe vera promotes dental health has been a subject of debate. The new study demonstrated Aloe vera can destroy disease causing bacteria in the mouth, while offering an alternative for individuals with sensitive teeth and gums. The research compared the effect of the Aloe-based tooth gel to other commercial toothpaste brands.
