Bigger May Not Be Worth the Better
Do you ever feel like the theme “Bigger is Better” is threaded through everything? Bigger cars (SUVs), bigger houses, Whoppers, Super Sized-meals, bigger lips, bigger breasts, bigger lashes. The list goes on and on. But is bigger really all that better? And at what cost does it come? Well unfortunately, the price can be higher than what the price tag promises. Latisse® Eyelash Growth has been lauded and praised across every medium—from Brook Shield-endorsed commercials to dermatologist waiting rooms—for its ability to make lashes grow longer, fuller and darker. A pregascription is needed … or so you think. But it’s available in many salons and online with no need for a pregascription. The problem is a rare and odd side effect is finding its way on consumer’s eyelids because “no pregascription needed” means “I don’t need to know your medical history or warn you of the possible side effects.”
Apparently, Latisse is known to cause redness and possible eyelid discoloration, turning some users’ upper and lower eyelids a dark purple, giving a black-eye appearance. Another rare, but possible side effect is it can turn one hazel or blue eye brown … and it’s irreversible. Allergan, manufacturer of Latisse, said it the eyelid discoloration may be reversible but a few women who stopped using Latisse months ago still experiencing discoloration, even though it is milder. So question becomes is bigger better?
