Anti-Aging Products Show Promise During Recession

Oh yes, we’re all acutely aware of the economic desert we’re in, but anti-aging products are cruising the mountain tops and experiencing promising opportunity. Despite the 3.3 percent decline in prestige beauty sales, the Port Washington, N.Y. research firm said, “Skin care may be an area in which opportunity exists. While overall growth in skin care remained flat in the U.S., it is anti-aging products that continue to show promise.” And industry leaders like Estée Lauder and Dermophisiologique, among others, are rolling out new products in the cosmeceutical industry.

Estée Lauder recently introduced a new line called Time Zone and a cream lauded for wrinkle reduction that incorporates Sirtuin EX1 technology, which has been applauded for supporting the skin’s natural stimulation of proteins. The technology’s main ingredient is a patented hydrolyzed rice extract. In addition, Re-Nutriv Ultimate Youth Crème was also launched containing Estée Lauder’s patent-pending Youth Molecule, which includes Resveratrate.

Dermophisiologique, an Italy-based company, developed Maschera al Ferro (Iron Mask) with iron microspheres, omega-3 and ceramides. Iron microspheres simulate magnets to draw impurities out of the skin.

The cosmeceutical market is proving to be a cornerstone in the nutraceutical industry with continual product launches. The sagging economy is not pulling this industry down!
