NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—BioCell Technology LLC, which researches, develops and brands novel dietary ingredients, received GRAS (generally recognized as safe) approval by an independent expert panel for its patented, clinically substantiated ingredient, BioCell Collagen II®.

BioCell Collagen II, which promotes youthful-looking skin, attained the GRAS-status affirmation following rigorous scientific reviews not only on safety and toxicology data, but on manufacturing processes according to good manufacturing practices (GMP) for food. The independent expert panel, which included toxicologists, concluded BioCell Collagen II is safe when added into conventional foods and beverages and, therefore, exempt from premarket approval requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFD&C).

"The GRAS affirmation of BioCell Collagen II represents another positive milestone for the company allowing our safe ingredient to now be incorporated into a range of foods and beverages with value-added health functionality," said Suhail Ishaq, vice president of BioCell Technology.
