CEDEX, France—Laboratoire PYC, the nutritional arm of the SAVENA group, introduced a dietary supplement for preventing and alleviating skin imperfections in the form of naturally flavored beverages in a powder packaged into sticks. It contains zinc, recognized for its antioxidant and sebum regulating properties; bacteriostatic, antioxidant and soothing properties; and a complex of lactoferrin-rich milk proteins. The on-the-go sticks are offered in peach, lemon, strawberry, etc.
The ingredient selected by the laboratory was the subject of an eight-week study in approximately 40 teenagers. At the dosage contained in one stick, an average reduction in imperfections of 71 percent was noted after one month and 95 percent after two months. No side effects were reported. When interviewed at the end of the study, 76 percent of the teenagers stated they had seen a reduction in imperfections associated with reduced redness and a less oily appearance of the skin.
