PUTEAUX, France—Rousselot introduced a new Peptan™ Cosmetic range—Peptan™ SR marine (Skin Regeneration) and Peptan™ MR marine (Moisture Retention)—which are topical versions of the Rousselot nutricosmetic active principle for anti-aging and moisturizing topical formulations.
The new peptide active ingredient of marine origin, Peptan SR marine, boosts fibroblast proliferation and promotes the synthesis of collagen; the structural organization of the dermis is thus preserved:
- Tested on a culture of fibroblasts, Peptan SR marine utilized in a dosage of 0.1mg/ml for 24 hours induces a significant increase of 18 percent in the proliferation of fibroblasts by comparison with an untreated control (P=0.016).
- Tested on a culture of fibroblasts, Peptan SR marine utilized in a dosage of 0.01mg/ml for two days induces a significant increase of 22.5 percent in the synthesis of collagen by comparison with a control treated with BSA (P<0.05).
Used in a concentration of 1 percent in cosmetic formulations, Peptan SR marine is an activator of the synthesis of collagen by fibroblasts. It is thus capable of restoring the three-dimensional structure of the dermis, giving it cohesion and tonicity. Its action on the extracellular matrix of the dermis thus combats the loss of firmness which in time leads to wrinkles. Peptan SR marine has also demonstrated an antioxidant effect.
Peptan MR marine is a natural marine biopolymer with film-forming properties, which helps to maintain the moisture balance of the skin and provides it with NMF-specific amino acids. Peptan Cosmetic is a range of type-1 natural peptides of collagen. The Peptan Cosmetic range, which is available in powder form, contains no preservatives and carries no odor, making it easily incorporated into non-perfumed formulations.
