Yes, the recessional decline has taken its toll on consumer spending, budgeting and saving; but that doesn’t mean consumerism has halted altogether. They are still shelling out cash for beauty products such as fragrances; it’s just their buying habits have changed. The term eco-chic is prevalent now more than ever.
Higher priced, premium-brand fragrances are on the decline and fewer companies are putting out new product launches. In 2008, NPD reported men’s launches decreased 20 percent, but women’s launches rose 9 percent.
