Women are a mystery, but their buying habits don’t have to be. In our deflated economic state, buying habits have changed. Money is tighter and budgets are strapped so luxuries and items of want, not need, are often swapped out from the top of the list to the bottom.

There are some buying trends, one known as the lipstick effect, that surface during economic down times. Unity Marketing reported in its Luxury Beauty Snapshot Report 2009 six of the top 10 fastest growing luxuries in 2008 was beauty products.
