Dow Corning: Silicones for Anti-Aging

MIDLAND, Mich.--Reacting to predictions that anti-aging products will account for about a quarter of the value of the global cosmetic skin care market by 2012, formulators are fortifying traditional skin creams with a variety of active ingredients that provide wrinkle-masking effects, sun protection and vitamins.  Dow Corning is helping provide formulators with solutions to improving the visual and sensory effects of anti-aging skin care products.
Dow Corning offers a series of customized delivery systems, such as microencapsulation technologies and phospholipid-based liposomes. They stabilize, protect and enhance cosmetic actives into and onto the skin surface. Silicone elastomers can also absorb, entrap and release actives.  In addition, they can fill skin imperfections by forming small, soft microparticles. This reduces the visual impact on skin wrinkles.
