LOS ANGELES—Pacific Shore Holdings Inc. completed of a clinical trial for Burner Balm lip balm, a lip balm touted for weight management. The lip balm product line is infused with dietary ingredients such as green tea and Hoodia gordonii extracts, as well as chromium picolinate and caffeine.
The double blind placebo-controlled clinical trials were conducted over a 12-week period on more than 100 patients. Lead clinical investigator, David Toomey, stated, "Over the 12-week period, the Burner Balm group lost an average of seven to nine pounds versus the placebo group. Many of the patients commented that meal portions shrank considerably while using the product and most were able to cut out snacking all together."
Allan Kurtz, M.D., the product's lead developer, stated, "I knew while the product was in the prototype stage that it would yield positive results." According to Kurtz, the dietary supplement extracts are absorbed into the blood stream through the many blood vessels located in the mucus membrane in the lips. This, coupled with a slight continuous ingestion of key dietary supplement extracts, when used as directed, allows all of the dietary ingredients to be absorbed faster and steadier into the bloodstream than ingesting pills or powder supplements. Pills and supplements have to travel to the stomach before they are absorbed. "The use of a lip balm is also far less invasive than ingesting pills and drinking diet potions, which commonly cause side effects such as upset stomachs and nervousness," Kurtz said.
According to the company, over the last several months, they have been working with multiple biochemists and physicians to continue improving the formula of the product line by increasing the percentage levels of the key dietary extracts.
