Desert King Partners with Inca Oil; Expands Jojoba Oil Line

08/06/2008

SAN DIEGO, Calif--Desert King International (DKI), a manufacturer of jojoba oil, announced their partnership with Inca Oil from Argentina.  This strategic partnership will expand upon Desert King’s current jojoba product offering.  The unique micro-climates found in Peru and Argentina at Inca Oil’s plantations enable Desert King to be more competitive in markets where jojoba oil is used as a raw ingredient offering its customers a better product at a lower cost. This partnership is a unique opportunity for Desert King to expand its product line and stay on the cutting edge of supplying natural ingredients to the marketplace. "Since we harvest our own products from sustainable resources in Chile, Mexico, Peru and Argentina, it enables us to deliver consistent high quality ingredients to our customers at a competitive price,” said DKI President, Paul Hiley.

Desert King International is a privately held company based in San Diego and is currently the largest global producer of quillaja saponaria and yucca schidigera with 70 percent and 60 percent of the market shares respectively. DKI, one of the pioneers in the development of jojoba oil, set the standard for high quality jojoba oil beginning its production in 1978. DKI is also an active member of the International Jojoba Export Council, which promotes the use of jojoba as a natural, renewable, and biodegradable resource.  Jojoba oil, a liquid wax, is used globally in personal care and cosmetics as a natural emollient.  DKI currently produces quillaja saponaria in Chile and yucca schidigera production takes place in Baja California, Mexico.  DKI warehouses its products in San Diego, Cincinnati, and Miami to provide its customers with faster and more efficient service across the U.S, Canada, and Mexico.

Inca Oil is located in Argentina with additional production facilities in Peru.  Inca Oil is one of the few organic jojoba oil production companies in the world and is certified by OIA, NOP, and IFOAM.  Inca Oil maintains that their mild, frost-free maritime environments allow their carefully selected plants to grow year-round and fully develop.  Fully developed jojoba plants produce a higher amount and better quality of liquid wax and by-products in contrast to the smaller jojoba plants grown in the North American deserts where development can be prematurely interrupted by extreme summer heat.
