Galaxy Surfactants Acquires TRI-K Industries

MUMBAI, India—Galaxy Surfactants Ltd. aquired North American-based TRI-K Industries Inc. The transaction, which was completed on July 1, 2009, includes Maybrook Inc. and makes Galaxy Surfactants the majority owner, with Dr. Gerd Dahms & Associates holding a minority share. Galaxy Surfactants has also acquired a majority share holding in Oberhausen Technology Center, Germany which is a state-of-the-art R&D facility for personal care products.

TRI-K Industries Inc. is a distributor and producer of specialty ingredients to the cosmetics and personal care markets. Headquartered in Northvale, N.J., with additional protein manufacturing facilities in New Hampshire, the company has operated in the personal care industry for more than 30 years and employs 40 people.

Financial terms of the sale were not announced.
