In April 2008, All One God Faith, doing business as Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps, filed a lawsuit accusing its competitors (more specifically, Hains Celestial, Levlad, Kiss My Face, YSL Beaute, OASIS and Ecocert) of being incompliant with FDA’s regulations regarding organic beauty products. And in July 2009, the company revised its suit, asking for damages incurred through loss of sales due to what it alleged were falsely advertised organic products.

As reported by CosmeticsDesign.com, the judge granted “the motions filed by the defendants to dismiss for lack of subject-matter and failure to state a claim in favor of the defendants, headed by the Hains Celestial Group.” Although, the judge did grant Dr. Bronner’s motion to dismiss a counter claim filed by Ecocert, which certifies some of the beauty products in question. Ecocert and Dr. Bronner’s have been given 30 days to amend their pleadings.
