Symrise: SymTriol™

12/18/2008

HOLZMINDEN, Germany—Symrise launched a new cosmetic ingredient, SymTriol™, which works as a moisturizer and fragrance as well as an antimicrobial agent. The synergistic, patent-pending compound (INCI: Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Methylbenzyl Alcohol) is a clear, nearly colorless liquid that is soluble in cosmetic esters, glycols and ethanol; it can be used in gels, creams and lotions, and is stable at pH values between 3 and 8. Because of its combination anti-microbial and antifungal properties, it can help formulators reduce the amount of preservatives such as parabens and formaldehyde donors.
