MILAN— The in-focus feature at in-cosmetics attracts more than two-thirds of visitors each year. With ‘sustainable beauty’ the main theme for in-cosmetics 2011, Beraca, a Brazilian natural and organic ingredients supplier decided to sponsor the feature.
Sustainability has always been the driving philosophy behind Beraca´s activities since it was founded in 1956. The company invests in local projects that promote regional development and help to preserve Brazilian forests at the same time. Its work has been acknowledged internationally, including a SEED Award for Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Development from the United Nations.
There has been a steep rise in natural cosmetic ingredients over the past decade with customers becoming more aware about the environmental impact of the products they buy. Filipe Sabara, Beraca, said: “Although suppliers feel the pressure to be seen as ‘green’, it’s important that they take time to adopt sustainable ways of working, rather than making loose claims that do not hold up.
