Natural Compound Targets Dermal Filler Market

11/07/2008

BOSTON—Consumers seeking a replacement to artificial dermal fillers may find it in new technology from ProGDerm. Allied Minds provided seed money to Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to build on research that found modulating the RHAMM protein could increase the deposition of subcutaneous fat to alleviate the appearance of age-related wrinkles. While the product will originally be positioned as an alternative to existing dermal fillers—and administered via injection by professionals—the company believes the ingredient could be delivered as a dermal cream that would induce the re-growth of subcutaneous fat in targeted areas.
