ESK Ceramics Gmbh & Co. KG: Boron Nitride

08/01/2008
Kempten, GERMANY--ESK has enhanced its raw material Boron Nitride for a variety of cosmetic applications. The new BORONEIGE® grades for skin care products may visibly reduce wrinkles and have a skin smoothing effect. Moreover, the easy-spreading substances is said provide very good coverage and skin lightening.
Inorganic fillers have multiple functions in decorative cosmetics. They interact with lipid vehicles in a way that can be fine-tuned, and so contribute, among other advantages, improving the spreading, wrinkle filling and hiding power, and shortening the drying times of the end product. Hexagonal Boron Nitride (BN) is an example of a synthetic filler with very high covering and skin lightening power, and easy spreading on the skin.
ESK Ceramics GmbH & Co. KG has developed a range of Boron Nitride grades to meet the varied requirements of the cosmetics industry. One specially micronized BORONEIGE grade has been tested for use as an ingredient in skin care applications, where the focus is on its advantageous optical properties. Formulation trials and instrument-based evaluations have shown interesting results: ESK's very finely divided, high-purity Boron Nitride clearly produces a powerful soft focus effect. Moreover, its skin smoothing and anti-wrinkle effects can be measured in the lab.
ESK has also expanded the BORONEIGE Boron Nitride range with the BORONEIGE 301 and BORONEIGE Superfine grades. Both products are ideal for skin care applications, producing a soft, velvety feel on the skin. The first BORONEIGE®boron nitride grades for color cosmetics and also new grades for skin care applications have been presented to an interested audience of professionals at the In-Cosmetics 2008 international trade show in Amsterdam and NY SCC Suppliers' Day 2008.
