Beauty Companies Add Supplements

Mineral, herbal and dietary supplements sales amounted to $21.7 billion in 2008, a 7 percent increase since 2007, according to the Natural Marketing Institute in the September issue of GCI magazine. Mainstream beauty industry players such as Avon, Aveda and L’Oréal have capitalized in this marketplace by adding beauty supplements to their product lines. 

Consumer acceptance, ingredients with proven science, innovative delivery systems, and suppliers with experience in the dietary supplement industry have enabled companies to create effective beauty supplements. For example, capsule manufacturer Capsugel provides beauty manufacturers a plethora of options to customize their supplement line. “We give the options of color, printing and packaging to set the brand apart and build business,” said Mark Vieceli, Capsugel manager of business development.
