Considering the Lifecycle of Products
Consumers are increasingly interested in understanding the lifecycle of a product, making it important for companies to become increasingly transparent about their supply chain and production. In October 2010, during SupplySide West in Las Vegas, Evelyne Bismuth, Alban Mueller, chatted with Heather Granato, Virgo Publishing, on this topic, and the steps companies can take to reach out to consumers.
Specifically, Bismuth noted consumers are increasingly demanding information on biodiversity, meaning companies should take efforts to offer education and develop partnerships to do outreach. For example, Alban Mueller has worked with botanical farmers to develop educational programs for children. Bismuth further suggested companies work to promote eco responsibility throughout their production chain, from R&D through communication, to establish better relationships with these eco-minded shoppers.
