ADDISON, Ill.—Transparent Container Co. Inc (TCC) was awarded the 2012 AmeriStar Award from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) for its Three-Pack Disposable Razor Package, making this TCC's third AmeriStar Award.

Initial concept designs were provided from the Energizer Private Brands packaging team to TCC for additional design, refinement and engineering. The package allows for complete visual presentation and tamper evidence. The packaging structure consists of two pieces, an outer folded sleeve and an inner-formed tray. The tray, when inserted into the sleeve is used to contain product and prevent easy removal. When these two pieces are assembled, they create an interlock that is difficult to detect and to separate. There is also a microperforation that allows for a consumer to easily open the package after purchase.

“Collaboration between our packaging and development teams, and TCC’s design and engineering teams continue to make it possible to achieve and exceed a challenging set of design and functionality goals established for our branded products," said Paul Gorky, senior packaging engineer."The latest packaging solution emphasizes the brand’s identity of technology advancement, security enhancement and product differentiation at retail."

The Ameristar award will be formally presented on May 22, 2012, at the IoPP Honors & Awards Dinner in Rosemont, Ill.
