Tecnaro, who works with renewable resources to develop, produce and market biopolymers and biocompounds through the Albis Plastics GmbH sales network, signed a contract with Braskem, a leading biopolymer producer, for a new line of Green PE applications. TECNARO GmbH will produce compounds using Braskem’s Green PE, a biopolymer made from sugarcane ethanol, in its special series called ARBOBLEND, which is a biopolymer compound that can be processed, depending on the formula, by injection molding, extrusion (film) or thermoforming.

“The goal of this partnership is to develop applications that are still largely unexplored, which will expand the portfolio of products made with Green PE," said Claudia Cappra, renewable chemicals sales manager at Braskem.

Tecnaro was chosen by Braskem to expand the penetration of its biopolymer in the European market through a line of products made from renewable resources. “We are very satisfied with our partnership with Braskem, which will allow us to take another important step forward in exploring opportunities in Brazilian and European markets," said Lars Ziegler, head of F&E at TECNARO GmbH.

The partnership reaffirms TECNARO GmbH’s long-term connection with Brazil. Since 2001, TECNARO has maintained a representative office in São Paulo. Through select Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) entered into since 2005, and the sponsorship of the project Sequa gGmbH and the research institute at SENAI CIMATEC, it also developed and administered a comprehensive training program on the use of renewable resources in the plastics industry. TECNARO also develops new materials that help raise awareness on biopolymers in Brazil.

Through its partnership with Braskem, Tecnaro desires to formulate, mix and compound Green PE into certain compositions using other polymers, additives fillers and others resulting in ready-to-use “Tecnaro Green PE Compounds" for specific applications. Tecnaro’s resins can be transformed through injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, calendaring, compression parts, semi-finished products, sheets, films, wires or profiles.

In terms of personal care products, blow molding is the most common process. Through the blow molding process you can transform bottles and containers for shampoos, conditioner, sun care, cosmetics and other personal care products.
