COURBEVOIE, France—Avocados are more than just a tasty fruit to add to salad or tacos; their nutritional profile expands into the world of skin care, too. Derived from avocado, Laboratoires Exanscience launched EFFIPULP®, an anti-aging, plumping and detoxifying active. This peptide concentrate is produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of defatted avocado pulp (cake). After freeze-drying, the company obtains a stabilized powder on an organic maltodextrin carrier, free of preservatives. This green process respects the natural character of the fruit.

The active helps to restore volume to mature, dehydrated, stressed skin by stimulating the endogenous synthesis of hyaluronic acid (HA). Effipulp has a detoxifying effect that synthesize key molecules to help cells recover their functions.

In a comparative, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study, 49 women with dry, sensitive skin applied either a cream with 0.6 percent Effipulp or a placebo, twice daily for 56 days. The plumping effect was assessed by quantifying the variation in epidermal volume using the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technique, which reconstructs the epidermis in 3D via very-high-resolution images. After 56 days, women in the treatment group experienced a 6.1-percent increase in epidermis volume, while the placebo group saw no effect.
