BANGKOK—The personal care ingredients exhibition, in-cosmetics Asia, will provide a platform for the booming Asian industry when it returns to Bangkok’s BITEC, attracting formulators, buyers, scientists, marketing experts and distributors from across the globe.

For the first time this year, the organizers are collaborating with the IFSCC (International Federation of the Societies of Cosmetic Chemists), partnered with the SCCT (Society of Cosmetic Chemists Thailand) to deliver the best possible program of activity for the industry. The IFSCC will host the technical conference from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, 2011, at the Centara Hotel while in-cosmetics Asia will host its ingredient exhibition from Nov. 2 to Nov. 4, 2011, at BITEC.

Cathy Laporte, group marketing manager at in-cosmetics Asia, said: “The collaboration with the IFSCC will create the largest cosmetics gathering in Asia this year, which is being dubbed ‘Beauty Week in Bangkok’. Together these events present a unique opportunity for any organisation or individual working within the personal care industry in Asia to meet the key industry players and learn the latest developments, so shouldn’t be missed!"

in-cosmetics Asia will also include an extensive education program, featuring a series of Formulation Workshops, Marketing Trends Presentations, Innovation Seminars and an Innovation Zone featuring the latest new ingredient launches and innovative finished products. Each will provide an opportunity for visitors to enhance their commercial, scientific and marketing knowledge. 

More than 250 leading suppliers, including over 50 first-time exhibitors, have already signed up to the in-cosmetics Asia exhibition, making it the largest in its four-year history. Major players from across Asia, including Croda, Dow Chemicals and DSM Nutritional Products, as well as smaller niche companies from Thailand, South Korea, China, Japan, India and Malaysia, all highlighting the very latest Asian developments. New for 2011, a ‘First Time’ Exhibitor Pavilion has been introduced for smaller manufacturers, suppliers or laboratories.

Unique Visitor Features

A series of formulation workshops will give manufacturers a practical insight into how they can tackle common obstacles and improve their formulations. The four half-day workshops will examine issues surrounding claim support and efficacy testing, formulating with fragrances, sensory science and optimizing cosmetic formulations digitally. The Marketing Trends program is an extensive series of seminars that industry and brand experts analyze the latest developments in the market and impart their knowledge. Tailored to the personal care market and delivering detailed facts, figures and case studies in a series of key presentations, the seminars are aimed at inspiring original and innovative marketing campaigns.

Designed to provide first-hand knowledge of the latest products to be launched, the more than 30 Innovation Seminars will cover a wide range of topics and include talks on Solaveil SpeXtra - An Award Winning Solution for Complete UV Protection and a debate on 5 years Younger in 4 weeks – is that possible?.

After the success of the Innovation Zone in 2010, an entire area dedicated to products launched either at the show or up to eight months before will be featured. Companies already signed-up to showcase their products include Mibelle, Arch Personal Care, Dow Chemical, Bioland, Ashland and Seiwa Kasei. A number of exhibitors will demonstrate their products in a series of 30-minute informative sessions, providing a unique learning opportunity for visitors to understand how they could be used in their formulations.

Also at the Innovation Zone is an interactive display entitled Beauty and the Elements, where Mintel will offer visitors the opportunity to touch, feel and try the latest beauty products incorporating oxygen, carbon, water and other earthly elements as ingredients. Daily demonstrations will take place between 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.

in-cosmetics Asia has partnered with SPC Asia to run the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award at the event for very the first time this year.  Created to recognize an original ingredient that combines innovative science and product features, entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Marketing Trends Theater.
