Nail Gels? Nope, Water-Based Polishes
A couple of years ago it seemed that long-lasting nail gels were all the rage. That was until after a couple of removals where part of my nail came with the removal of the gel. The search was on for a better alternative to long-lasting color in the form of more natural or water-based polish.
Water-based polishes are currently more accessible in a variety of cool colors and trendy packages. These polishes are longer lasting due to an acrylate, film-forming emulsion called SAFE by Interpolymer Corp. This technology is quick drying and the polish can be removed with alcohol and the nail is in tact!
Manufacturers can rest easily knowing there are reduced safety hazards, toxicity and VOC issues, which are common when manufacturing solvent-based nail enamels containing nitrocellulose.
