When the skin ages it's because the stem cell production slows, but now there are new ingredients to grow the skin and protect the stem cells. It's not embryonic stem cells as used in science, which are highly controversial, but stem cell boosters derived from plants that are being used in skin care. There are two types of boosters: human growth factors or hormones, and plant meristem cells. These products are protecting and promoting the longevity of the stem cells you already have naturally in your skin.

The main goals of using stem cells in skin care is to increase the life of one’s own stem cells, maintain the characteristics of those stem cells, and to promote their division to produce new cells and increase the youth of the epidermis.

A great example of plant stem cells for skin care comes from the Swiss Uttwiler Spatlauber apple. This apple is known for its ability to heal its own bruises and damage to its skin and can last for months after picking. This plant healing technology has been extracted and can now be found in numerous skin cream formulations.
