Avon Hires New President, China, John Lin

Avon announced its new president of China business, John Lin, current president of Avon Canada, in an attempt to boost sales. Since 2008 the company has been struggling with allegations of possible bribery, which has tainted the company’s image and hurt sales. Some surmise the appointment of Lin is to create a fresh start. Lin is scheduled to start on March 1, replacing Rene Ordonez, who will return to Avon’s Latin America operations.  

The Wall Street Journal reported the company’s revenue declined in the first nine months of 2011 by 24 percent ; however in mid February 2012, Andrea Jung, chief executive, said Avon did earn a small profit in China in 2011.
