Ingredient of the Week—Mibelle Biochemistry: DermCom

We've talked a good amount about growth factors. They play a major role in the body's aging process, as they are responsible for stimulating cellular growth, proliferation and cellular differentiation. They also play an important role in physiological conversation necessary to keep skin supple and ensure the integrity of skin's structural network (aka skin matrix). What happens is, like most things in the body, age causes a breakdown of communication between skin cells, which are mediated by growth factors. This breakdown slows fibroblast activity, which is responsible for the synthesis of collagen and the extracellular matrix. Thus, skin suffers by losing elasticity and firmness. See how this all ties together?

With that groundwork laid, the issue is reaching dermal fibroblasts. That's where the flower formally known as Crocus chrysanthus (you may have heard her referred to Cream Beauty) comes in. Mibelle Biochemistry just launched its strategic flower-based (made from the bulbs of Cream Beauty) ingredient DermCom. According to the company, it rejuvenates the skin matrix by stimulating the communication between epidermal and dermal skin cells.

Clinical studies have shown DermCom, this week's Ingredient of the Week, improves skin texture via its growth-factor like activity. Mibelle said it boosts collagen and elastin production, stimulates natural growth factors of the skin and renews the skin’s resilience and firmness. Tada! Vigorous skin again.

It's all about communication.
