LONDON—Lansinoh Laboratories Inc.’s acquisition of the Earth Friendly Baby brand of natural personal care products, comprising of natural skin care products, shampoos and bubble bath, according to Organic Monitor.
“This is yet another acquisition in the fast-growing natural personal care industry," Organic Monitor said. “High market growth rates have attracted a number of new entrants, with many like Lansinoh Laboratories preferring the acquisition route. Previous acquisitions have been by large multinationals, such as L'Oreal, Colgate-Palmolive, Clarins as well as investment firms and consumer good companies. More merger and acquisition activity is expected."
The products contain certified-organic ingredients and are free from synthetic chemicals. Bought by HealthQuest in 2004, the brand has grown to become a leader in the natural baby-care segment.
The products are distributed primarily in the United Kingdom, in pharmacies like Boots, supermarkets like Sainsbury's, as well as health food stores. Earth Friendly Baby products are also in the United States, in specialist retailers and in several northeast regional Whole Foods Market stores. The Earth Friendly Baby range will join Lansinoh breastfeeding products and momma toddler-feeding products.
"Breastfeeding moms have long depended on the purity of Lansinoh HPA Lanolin, a product developed by a breastfeeding mom herself, to soothe and heal sore nipples and skin," said Kevin Vyse-Peacock, CEO of Lansinoh. “With this new acquisition, we extend the legacy of Lansinoh's commitment to purity and bring a world-class, award-winning line of natural baby products to families everywhere. With mOmma and now with Earth Friendly Baby, Lansinoh Laboratories Inc. is continuing to give babies a healthy start to life."
