NEW YORK—Avon Products announced the opening of its new LEED-certified headquarters—floor 2 to 11 at William Kaufman Organization 777 Third Ave. The new 246,500 sq.-ft. headquarters relocated from 1251 Sixth Ave. between 49th and 50th streets. According to Louise Matthews, Avon's vice president of real estate, Avon put green design at the topic of its lists because the company's U.S. headquarters is one of its largest office spaces around the world, as reported by The Real Deal.

Avon made a global commitment in 2010 to achieve at least a certified green level in all its new construction or renovation projects of significant size, and to seek a higher certification level, such as Gold or Platinum (or the local equivalent), wherever possible. The new Avon location’s certification is still pending.

The company ensured 96 percent of its employees had access to daylight, as well as the use of locally manufactured materials. It’s reputation as a “company for women" also led Avon to use women subcontractors—17 percent of the workers were women.
