According to Premium Beauty News, Canada recently endorsed GMPs (good manufacturing practices) for cosmetic products. In 2007 the International Standards Organization (ISO) adopted GMPs and now Health Canada implemented ISO standard 22716 for cosmetics. GMPs are in place to ensure quality control in regards to product manufacturing, testing, storage, etc., as well as safety. Health Canada hopes to help companies meet its safety and quality requirements by implementing GMPs. FDA forbids the sale of cosmetics that have been “manufactured, prepared, preserved, packaged or stored under unsanitary conditions;” Health Canada aims to eliminate these issues by adopting ISO standard 22716.
