MONHEIM, Germany—Cognis recognized two of its teams for their work on personal care formulation solutions with the company's internal Innovation Awards 2008. One award recognized the commercial success of the polymeric emulsifiers Cosmedia SP and Cosmedia SPL, innovative ingredients designed to control the structural, aesthetic and sensory properties of skin care products compared to standard polymers. Formulators using the Cosmedia polymers can achieve a light texture and pleasant skin feel, and marketers can promote the products as “emulsifier-free.”
The second Innovation Award lauded Laboratoires Serobiologiques (LS)—the active ingredients business of Cognis Care Chemicals—for the success of the anti-aging peptide Dermican. This pure synthetic tetrapeptide uses a targeted mechanism to optimize the functionality of collagen fibers, targeting a specific proteoglycan to enhance skin firmness.
