Korea's cosmetics market is growing strong, despite a slowing domestic economy, noted the Chosun Ilbo. Makeup and skin care products accounted for .7 percent of last year's per captia gross of domestic products; which amounts to about $130 per person. Plastic surgery is also on the rise, plastic surgery clinics doubled to about 1,000 facilities between 2004 and 2007.

The growth is in line with Japan and France, which also have high consumption of cosmetics.
