The term “green” no longer needs to be defined or explained. It’s become commonplace and synonymous with terms such as recycling, eco-friendly and energy efficient. However, “green” makeup is a bit of a newer concept. Even though the market is growing and new product launches are happening, green makeup is still, well, a little green. By definition, green makeup is the omission of fillers like, parabens and certain emulsifiers; basically, it’s makeup free of chemicals that have been deemed “harmful” to the skin.

Examiner.com’s Los Angeles makeup examiner, Amy Conklin, interviewed Valerie Mason-Robinson, green makeup guru who’s background not only includes chemical engineering, she was also an esthetican and a former cosmetic researcher. Conklin picked Mason-Robinson’s brain on the ins and outs of green makeup and the reasons why she recommends it.
