What guy doesn’t want to look and feel younger? Now, due to added pressure in the current economic environment, this need is being reinforced more than ever. Many factors are contributing to this rise in pressure. Competition in the workplace is one; the man who comes to work clean shaven and well-put-together is more likely to rise higher and faster or simply keep his job in such a tight job market. Another factor can be looking good can help manage a man’s stress and help him feel better about himself. And lastly, the acceptance of plastic surgery as a positive means of body care for both health and grooming reasons can also contribute to the demand for more products made specifically for, and marketed to, men. For many men, opting for cosmetic surgery is a career decision because in today’s job market YOUTH is emphasized more than ever before. Men don’t want to look prematurely old or tired, so the options of good skin care products that are nourishing and restorative are a good financial alternative and help to complement plastic surgery.

In regards to skincare, below are some issues that are of increasing interest to men:

Anti-Aging: Every man needs a simple regimen to address his anti-aging concerns. Even the most sophisticated man has little time for fuss and needs products that compliment his busy lifestyle. The products should be rich in powerful antioxidants, peptides and vitamins, and should be used day and night to keep his skin looking firm and healthy. He should look for products with ingredients such as vitamins A and C, arnica extract, shea butter and carrot root.

Sun care: Caution regarding sun exposure is extremely important for two reasons: Extended time in the sun without proper sun protection leads to premature wrinkles and sagging skin; and, more importantly, it can lead to skin cancer and other diseases. Exposure to harmful UVA/UVB radiation from the sun can be avoided with the use of sun care products with a broadband SPF of 15 or higher. Always wear sunscreen when going outdoors— sunscreen is not just for the beach. Sunscreen takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to become effective so you should apply at least a half an hour before going outdoors. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen to your ears and lips as these spots are especially prone to getting sunburn. For outdoor activities, wear loose-fitting, tightly woven clothes in light colors; a hat; and UV-filtering sunglasses are also recommended.

Hair Loss: As thinning hair becomes an issue and men begin to go gray, there are numerous options to address these problems. Hair thickening shampoos are becoming increasingly popular. They are important because having a super-clean scalp helps promote the growth of stronger hair. These shampoos can also block DHT (dihydrotestosterone), the natural metabolite of the human body that is the main reason for hair loss, nourish, condition and add volume. Hair coloring products are increasingly popular in both the permanent and temporary categories. The modern stress in society for youth in the workplace and on the social scene has convinced men to feel comfortable in renewing or updating themselves.
