As menopause exerts systemic effects on a woman’s body, it is not surprising it can have a range of impacts on the skin, from dryness and loss of elasticity to acne or rosacea. GCI reported the topic is gaining interest in the mainstream media, although continued attitudes of denial about the experience make it challenging for marketers to help women find effective products for their individual symptoms.

For example, the shifts in hormones such as androgen and estrogen can result in menopause-related acne, often manifesting on the chin and neck; however, adult acne doesn’t respond well to treatments targeting teens, opening a wide potential market. There are a range of products addressing skin issues such as dryness or wrinkles using anti-aging bioactives, as well as some targeting rosacea with antioxidants.
